Privacy Policy

Your privacy is critically important to us. Know My Child is built to give parents full control over their child's information. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Apple, we receive only the information you choose to share.

Child Profile Data: You may enter information about your child including their name, nickname, diagnoses, medical alerts, communication preferences, sensory triggers, routines, and other care-related details. This data is entered voluntarily by you.

Observation Logs: You may log daily observations about your child. These entries are private to your account unless you explicitly share them with a caregiver.

Usage Data: We collect anonymous analytics to improve app performance, including crash reports and general usage patterns. This data cannot be used to identify you or your child.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Know My Child service
• To enable you to share your child's care profile with caregivers you select
• To power the Ask the Circle AI feature, which uses your child's profile data to provide personalized guidance
• To send you notifications you have opted into (e.g., caregiver activity alerts)
• To process subscription payments through Apple's In-App Purchase system

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

You control all sharing. Your child's profile data is never shared with anyone unless you explicitly invite a caregiver and grant them access. You can revoke access at any time.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or your child's data to third parties.

We may share data only in the following circumstances:

• With your consent: When you share a profile with a caregiver
• Service providers: We use Supabase for secure data storage and authentication. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
• Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect the safety of our users

4. AI-Assisted Insights (Ask the Circle)

Know My Child includes an optional feature called Ask the Circle that uses a third-party artificial-intelligence service to generate written responses to questions you ask about your child.

Third-party AI provider. When you choose to use Ask the Circle, the data described below is transmitted from our servers to Anthropic, PBC (San Francisco, CA, USA), the operator of the Claude large-language-model API (anthropic.com/legal/privacy). Anthropic processes the request and returns a generated text response.

Data sent to Anthropic for each Ask the Circle question. Each request includes:

• your question text;
• the selected child's first name (and nickname if set), pronouns, and date of birth;
• any diagnoses or labels you have stored on the child's profile;
• the contents of profile sections you have filled in (e.g. "About Me", "Sensory Triggers", "What Calms Me", "Routines", etc.);
• up to your last 30 day-rating observations and notes (date, rating, tags, note text);
• up to 20 caregiver notes that you have explicitly approved for inclusion in Ask the Circle.

The request does not include your name, email address, account credentials, payment information, your photos, your home address, or any data about other children on your account that you did not select.

What Anthropic does with the data. Per Anthropic's Commercial Terms of Service and Privacy Policy in effect at the time of writing, Anthropic processes API request data to generate the response and for safety/abuse monitoring. Anthropic states that data submitted through its API is not used to train its generative models. Anthropic offers contractual data protections substantially equivalent to those described in this Privacy Policy.

Your control over this feature.

• Ask the Circle is off by default. The first time you tap "Ask the Circle", the app shows an in-app consent screen that lists exactly what will be sent to Anthropic and asks you to agree before any data leaves the app.
• You can revoke consent at any time in Settings → AI Assistant Data Sharing. Revoking consent prevents any further data from being sent to Anthropic.
• You may continue to use every other feature of Know My Child without ever enabling Ask the Circle.

Retention. A short audit-log entry recording that you used Ask the Circle (timestamp, question length, prompt category) is retained on our servers for as long as your account is active so you can review it under "View Audit Log". The full text of the question and generated answer is retained only for as long as needed to display the conversation in the current app session and is not persisted to our database.

Important: Ask the Circle does not provide medical advice. All responses are for informational purposes only.

5. Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously:

• All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
• Authentication tokens are stored securely using device-level encryption (iOS Keychain)
• Row-level security policies ensure users can only access their own data
• Caregiver access is controlled through cryptographic share links

6. Children's Privacy

Know My Child is designed for use by parents and caregivers of children. The app is not intended to be used directly by children. All child data is entered and managed by the parent or guardian. We comply with applicable children's privacy laws including COPPA.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access all data stored about you and your child
• Edit any information at any time within the app
• Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us
• Revoke caregiver access at any time
• Export your child's profile as a PDF

8. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data and child profile data will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymous, aggregated analytics data may be retained.

9. Third-Party Services

• Supabase: Database and authentication (supabase.com/privacy)
• RevenueCat: Subscription management (revenuecat.com/privacy)
• Apple: Sign in with Apple and In-App Purchases

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
